Yesterday, I wrote a lengthy piece on why I believe Bernie Sanders is not only the best presidential candidate for 2016, but also why I think he can win. Not sure if he will, but I do believe he can, that it is not an impossible scenario.
I also discussed why, specifically, I believe him to be the best candidate, and that he would be the best of all the candidates right now to take the oath of office and occupy the White House, even if he does not get everything accomplished that he is now advocating.
Why?
Because he is not arguing that settling for less is the only real solution. That is Hillary Clinton's position, that incremental changes made over time would be best. Sounds good at first glance, and it sounds like the more stable and reasonable position to take for most people. Only, when you look at the record, and you see that Hillary is taking a lot of money from the same health insurance corporations that she used to battle so hard against, and then add that to a record that includes voting in favor of the PATRIOT Act, as well as voting in favor of empowering George W. Bush to launch his ridiculous war against Iraq, and you begin to understand that Hillary's position is generally with corporations, and to continue the de facto corporate supremacy that has been such a disaster for this country in the first place.
That is clearly what Bernie Sanders is saying, and he is not alone.
One of the key Democrats that Hillary wanted to receive an endorsement by for so long is Elizabeth Warren. Yet, Warren has not been forthcoming in supporting Hillary. In fact, without directly criticizing the former First Lady, Warren has been critical of Hillary's positions, and other supposedly "moderate" candidates who warn people not to want too much change.
Yes, Warren has been quite vocal in her criticism of how the American economy is not working, because it favors the billionaires and the wealthy and powerful special corporate interests that have come to dominate the economy and have had such an adverse impact on the lives of millions of Americans in the process.
In the link below, there is a video of Warren blasting anybody who suggests that powerful change is just too difficult to achieve, favoring a much slower process instead. For all intents and purposes, Warren exposes such politicians - politicians like Hillary Clinton - as being, in her words, in "bed with the billionaires."
