Well, I actually did fairly well with my picks this week. There were three exceptions, of course (the Falcons beating Green Bay, Washington beating the Rams, and the Broncos embarrassing Dallas). However, overall, my picks were generally accurate, as I recovered from a shaky first week to get most of the picks right.
That felt better, although there was still one more game on the schedule featuring the Detroit Lions, and my New York Giants.
So, what happened in that one? Did the Giants recover from the disappointment of their week one loss in Dallas? Did the Lions follow up on that impressive win against the Cardinals to open their new season?
Here is the review:
Monday Night Football - Detroit Lions at N.Y. Giants - If you are a Giants fan like me, this is the scenario that you were hoping this team could avoid. Yes, the Giants went 11-5 last season, sweeping the Cowboys and seeming to have a crushing defense as well as a load of talent on offense. But they were one of four teams to fail scoring 30 points or more at any point last season, and that lack of explosiveness likely was what prevented them from winning a single postseason game, let alone making a run. They had an entire offseason to work on these issues on the offense, and now, two games into the new season, the G-Men have scored a whopping 13 points total, and have basically lost lopsided games each time. While watching the tail end of this last game, John Gruden mentioned that the Giants had failed to score 24 points or more now for eight straight games, dating back to last season, and including the postseason. Again, when you have the level of talent that New York has on offense, you need to find ways to produce far more than this. As for the Lions, they took a bite out of the Giants! Detroit manages to begin the season 2-0, and both of their victories were very impressive! This team looks more serious than any Lions team that I personally have seen since 1991, at least thus far. Their offense looks explosive, and their defense looks incredible, simply intense! They controlled this game from start to finish, and right now, if you are a fan of Detroit, you have to like what you see! There was a great mixture between their running and passing game, and their defense frankly dominated. A great win for Detroit, and despite being a Giants fan, I am happy for the fans of Detroit. That city could use a break, and so could this team, which is the only team remaining in the NFC to have never even qualified for the Super Bowl throughout it's franchise history yet. If they keep playing like this, that just might change soon! My pick: Inaccurate
