Book Review: "The Call" by David Spangler

This was a book which I first read some years ago. It was a book which I found while clearing out my parent's old house. There it was on the shelf. It was a small book, one that likely could be completely read from cover to cover in one sitting. So I pulled it out, was impressed with the painting on the cover, and decided to go ahead and give it a shot.

As it turns out, I was glad that I did.

What is odd is that I think that I may have come across this book before, when younger. But at the time, it struck me as religious, at least partly religious. At the time, that was enough of a turnoff for me that I simply put it down and decided not to read it or take it seriously.

Something, somewhere along the line must have changed with me along the way, because now, older and hopefully a bit wiser, it felt like it was worth giving it a shot. So when I encountered it while clearing out my parent's place, I set this to the side, and gave it a read.

Now, a few years later, I gave it yet another reading. Yes, this is a book worth taking a look at and reading more than once (at least in my humble opinion).

That thing which had initially made internal alarm bells start ringing - the suspicion that this was religious and would perhaps be pushy about it - proved seriously overblown. In fact, there is real wisdom to had here. Sure enough, once I got past my fears, or prejudices, or whatever it was that prevented me from reading this book, it proved to be something very much worth reading.

It comes highly recommended by me, and you can probably finish this book in one sitting, if you so choose and are determined. Or, you can read it at a more leisurely pace, as I did, and absorb the wisdom at a more measured pace. One way or the other, if you can, do yourself a favor and try to find a copy of this book so you can read it.
