RIP, B.B. King

What a music legend this man was!

I was fortunate enough to have seen him in concert twice.

Unfortunately, I do not have the time just yet to write more elaborately on B.B. King's storied musical career, although I promise to return to this blog entry and give a more deserving eulogy of sorts to the man and his music.

In the meantime, rest in peace, B.B. King.

  1. It's cool that you got to see him in concert. He certainly had an immeasurable influence on the music world. You know that Animals song, "Bo Diddley"? I'm reminded of the fact that B.B. King's name appears in "Dig It", a Beatles song on the "Let It Be" album:

    ♫ Like a rolling stone ♫
    ♫ Like a rolling stone ♫
    ♫ Ah like a rolling stone ♫
♫ Like the FBI and the CIA ♫
♫ And the BBC, BB King ♫
    ♫ And Doris Day ♫
    ♫ Matt Busby ♫
♫ Dig it, dig it, dig it, dig it, dig it, dig it ♫
♫ dig it, dig it, dig it, dig it, dig it ♫

  2. Yeah, one of those times that I saw him was to cover it for the Torch - or maybe it was still the Bergen Monitor at that point. But I think i wrote an article on it - long since lost, if memory serves correctly. Probably not that great of an article anyway.

  3. We all tend to be so self-effacing in this family. "As I recall it was the most embarrassingly glib and inadequate excuse for a press article ever published. I should probably extend an apology to humanity itself for having written it..."
