How depressing was it last week on Super Tuesday, when Joe Biden suddenly emerged as the Democratic establishment’s great white hope? And now, on what some are calling Super Tuesday 2, Biden won most of the states, including the most important state of the night, Michigan. It was seen as a big blow to Sanders and his campaign.
Some establishment Democrat types are now demanding that Sanders step down from the race, in order to stop attacking (and thus hurting) Joe Biden in the Democratic primary, before he would presumably become the official nominee and then face Donald Trump. As if Trump himself will somehow take it easy or play fairly, by the book.
Yeah, right.
The thing is, Biden does not represent any major or meaningful change. There are things that Bernie Sanders has fought for all of his life, including all of his career, before they were considered cool. He opposes American foreign interventions, and put his money where his mouth is by opposing the Iraq war, one of the very few Congressmen in Washington at the time to have done that. He also famously has championed healthcare for all, advocating healthcare as a human right and relentlessly and unapologetically attacking the harm rendered by our current "for profit" healthcare system. He also stands for serious changes to help strengthen environmental laws and start seriously addressing meaningful action towards climate change. All of these things, and so much more, is why Sanders and his supporters are staying in the race, because these are not minor issues, which should simply be downplayed or even outright ignored because some more conservative Democrats, especially those who number as Baby Boomers, seem to personally dislike the Senator.
By contrast, almost all of the other Democrats in the race had watered down policies that offered platitudes and talk which sounded good at times, but which lacked teeth. Biden, who has now emerged as the Democratic frontrunner, was the best example of this. He was too similar to Hillary Clinton 2016 for comfort. He sounds good when attacking Trump, and perhaps some who loved Obama love that he was a part of that presidency. But he is clearly weak on some issues.

Biden is a very conservative figure in American politics. He feels that we cannot have universal healthcare, that we cannot have seriously strong environmental legislation. He outright mentioned that he would veto any "Medicare for all" bill that would come to his desk, which sounds very much against the best interests of the American people he supposedly wants to represent and lead, and instead, supportive of the frankly evil "for profit" system that we have.
Are we supposed to cheer that, or just shrug it off?

Biden also has voted for the wars that date back to the George W. Bush administration, and he hardly seems apologetic or even reflective about it. To be fair, he just kind of apologized, or at least acknowledged that it was a mistake. Yeah, now that it is well after the fact, and it is costing him political credibility he is acknowledging what is blatantly obvious: voting in favor of the Iraq war was a huge mistake.
Joe Biden seems to be in a state of serious mental decline, and I am not saying this to be funny or hurtful. Seriously, this man appears to a liability for the Democratic Party – the same party that is rushing to try and get his the nomination for the White House. The thing is, it feels very much like he would cost them yet another election, and give Donald Trump something that once seemed highly unlikely: a second term in office.
His gaffes were, for a little while, seemingly comical. At least for a little while, anyway, when it seemed that they were relatively infrequent and not that serious. When it seemed that he was merely stumbling on his words, rather than unable to really even get his words together.
But they appear to be growing more glaringly obvious and serious, and this not only will be taken advantage of by shameless Donald Trump, but it already has.
Seriously, Biden is a liability.
