Barbora Krejčíková Cruises to French Open Women's Singles Championship

Roland Garros/French Open

Barbora Krejčíková of Czechia (Czech Republic, or Česká republika in Czech) reached her first ever Grand Slam singles final this year, surprising many (perhaps including herself) with an incredible run. Once there, she met Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who was also playing in her first ever Grand Slam final.

Krejčíková defeated Pavlyuchenkova 6-1. 2-6, 6-4, which lifted her to her first ever singles Grand Slam championship.

Now, Krejčíková has a chance to make some unique history. She could truly enter the ranks of great tennis stars from the Czech Republic if she and her fellow countrymate Kateřina Siniaková defeat Bethanie Mattek-Sands of the United States and Iga Świątek of Poland in the women's doubles final.

Should be interesting.
