⚽️ ⚽️ Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Saint-Étienne With Wild Ending of Game ⚽️ ⚽️

      ⚽️ ⚽️ Paris Saint-Germain   ⚽️  ⚽️

PSG earned a tough win this weekend over Saint-Étienne. It was an unorthodox game, with defense dominating for the vast majority, as the two teams were deadlocked in a scoreless tie.

Then, there was an explosion of five goals in the game's final 19 or so minutes. It was a flurry of offensive activity, perhaps to make up for the complete lack thereof for about 80 percent of the game, quite literally.

Denis Bouanga got the scoring going with a goal in the 77th minute to score the game's first goal, giving visiting Saint-Étienne the 1-0 lead.

PSG answered quickly, however, as French superstar Kylian Mbappé earned the answering goal for PSG to tie the game up in the 79 minute. He would then score again shortly after that with a goal in the 87th minute, giving PSG their first lead of the game, and with time expiring.

Normally, you might think that PSG would hang on by preventing another opposition goal to ice the win. But not on this day.

Romain Hamouma scored the tying goal for Saint-Étienne in the second minute of extra time. Suddenly, with time rapidly running out, the game was again seemingly heading for a 2-2 tie.

You might be forgiven if you assumed that would be it. Again, though, not so fast. PSG showed some serious character in this one, as Mauro Icardi scored the clinching goal in the fifth minute of extra time, effectively lifting PSG to a victory as their was very little time left for Saint-Étienne to answer. Moments later, PSG had iced a key win to keep their title hopes alive for Ligue 1 this season.

With this win, PSG now has earned 69 points in 33 games played . They are ahead of third place Monaco by a single point, and fourth place Lyon by four points, although Lyon still had yet to play their game at the time that this particular blog entry was written and published. However, while PSG still trail first place Lille, they still managed to close in, as Lille had to settle for a disappointing tie, and not lead PSG by a single point in the standing, with 70 points earned in 33 games played thus far.
