A lot of people have claimed to have seen UFO’s. There are some who point to possible evidence in ancient writings dating back thousands of years, in some cases. Many others believe that the government was indeed trying to cover something up at Roswell, New Mexico, back in the 1940’s. Many more feel that the government is still actively hiding something in Area 51 in Nevada.
Now, I cannot claim to know, one way or the other. It is a fascinating topic, which perhaps accounts for the repeated stories and movies about UFO’s visiting the Earth, in some way or another. Perhaps it began with War of the Worlds, which caused a panic right in my home state of New Jersey. But it certainly did not end there. Just off the top of my head, I can think of a number of movies, including The Day the Earth Stood Still (and the more recent remake), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (this also had a remake), 2001, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the Alien movies, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, Communion, Independence Day and the sequel, Dreamcatcher, War of the Worlds (the movie version, which many felt was a weak movie), Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Signs, District-9, and Knowing. Plus, there have obviously been a bunch of television shows that have centered on this, including the X-Files, as well as a number of shows on the History Channel. As you can see, there is no shortage of forms of entertainment focusing on aliens.
Well, as it turns out, the Department of Defense has confirmed that one video, taken over a military ship in San Diego, indeed is of something flying around that cannot be identified. That does not mean that it is definitely aliens visiting us from another planet, but rather, that it just is some unidentified object flying, which is visible on the camera.
This feels like it is really lacking in the drama that we have seen in many of those movies and television shows. We cannot say that this is indeed concrete proof that we are being visited by aliens, much less what their intentions would be if they are trying to communicate with us in some form or another.
Indeed, this feels like it leaves a whole lot more questions than it provides answers.
Yet, this is truly fascinating. After all, it is rare for the government to acknowledge that something has indeed been conceded to be an actual Unidentified Flying Object (UFO). This is apparently one of those rare instances, and it will surely capture the imaginations of many for a long time to come.
