Word From Pluto

A NASA spacecraft sent out around nine or so years ago finally reached Pluto, which used to be the most distant known planet in our galaxy, until it was relegated from the status of being a planet.

Still, it is worth something to explore it, right? It may or may not be a planet, exactly. But it is something of great interest that we have known about, yet actually know little about.

So, with the arrival of this spacecraft to Pluto, humanity has not reached a destination 2.9 billion miles from the Earth, which is surely the farthest distance that we have ever gone. This has to be deemed one of the greatest successes that we have collectively achieved.

In any case, I am waiting for the pictures to come, because I really want to share that with my son, who has an interest in astronomy that hopefully will not wane too soon. Besides, he is about to get a gift of a telescope for Christmas, hopefully, and this will be an additional thing to keep that spark alive.
