Yes, I know. Bolivia is not a country that you hear all that much about. At least, that is, if you live in one of the major western industrialized nations.
But if you have heard about it lately, you will notice that Bolivia has done some incredible things as of late, going from a relative basket case as a country with enormous and overbearing problems, to a country that has turned itself around and, in the process, given power back to it's people!
In that regard, we could learn a few things from Bolivia's approach, always assuming that we are not too stuck up to do so (not a given).
Here is yet another area where we could learn from their example.
Bolivia has gone beyond some of the mere environmental laws, some of which are surely just public posturing to placate a politically correct population.
They passed a law to protect Mother Earth as a living organism, and anything, or anyone, that harms that life system is committing a serious crime.
If we ever want to get serious about laws that would actually crack down on polluters and start truly protecting the Earth, then yes, I believe this should serve as our model.
