Roger Federer Reflects

Well, Roger Federer made a much earlier exit from this French Open then he obviously was hoping and expecting to.

But he seemed far more reflective during this past Grand Slam tournament than any other time that I can remember.

Five years after winning this tournament, and becoming only the sixth man in history to have won all four career Grand Slams (Nadal has since become the seventh to achieve this feat), Federer seems to be reflecting more and more on his storied career, while many are, perhaps prematurely, suggesting that it is time for the Fed to pack it in.

Personally, I am not so sure. He is still one of the elites in the sport, and is capable of perhaps not only making it to another Grand Slam final, but winning another one, as well. That, alone, makes it probably worth it for him to continue on. Plus, what harm does it do?

Some might suggest it harms his legacy, but I think his legacy is safe. He is more than well-accomplished enough to have immortalized his own legacy for many years to come.

In any case, here are some article on Federer during this French Open tournament. One focuses on his taking control in a tough match that was far from certain, while the other two reflect on some of his personal favorite memories from the tournament, and the sport:
