Russian 'Doctor of Military Sciences' Advocates Possible Nuclear Strike of Yellowstone

Recently, the Russian president of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems, Konstantin Sivkov, made a case for responding to what he sees (probably with some justification) as American aggression by advocating a targeted nuclear strike at either Yellowstone National Park or the San Andres Fault line. Those regions are notoriously unstable, and both have supervolcanos that could greatly alter life on Earth if they ever erupted.

Sivkov argued that total destruction of the enemy was justifiable as a response to what he views as U.S. led NATO aggression towards Russia.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Sivkov said:

"Geologists believe that the Yellowstone supervolcano could explode at any moment. There are signs of growing activity there. Therefore it suffices to push the relatively small, for example the impact of the munition megaton class to initiate an eruption. The consequences will be catastrophic for the United States, a country just disappears."

He went on to add:

"A detonation of a nuclear weapon there can trigger catastrophic events like a coast-scale tsunami which can completely destroy the infrastructure of the United States."
