Denver Broncos 17, Seattle Seahawks 14 (OT)
Admittedly, I was not able to stay awake long enough last evening to watch the game. And after checking the score and seeing that the Broncos held a 14-3 lead, and I believe that they had the ball as well, the game seemed to be well in hand for Denver.
Two tough teams in need of the win. Neither could afford to lose this game and lose still more ground within their division. Yet, they both could not win.
In the end, Denver managed to do just enough to earn the win. It was a narrow win, and they needed overtime to get it after sporting an 11-point lead in the second half. The Seahawks clearly wanted it and worked hard to get it.
Yet, it was not quite enough for them.
With the win, the Broncos improved to 4-2 on the season. They still trail the 4-0 Chiefs in the division, but put the pressure on the 3-2 Raiders, who have come back down to Earth a bit after that impressive 3-0 start to the season.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks lost their second straight, dropping them to 3-3 on the season. A week ago, they were heading towards a big showdown with the 49ers, hoping to hand them their first loss of the season and force a two-way tie atop the NFC West. Instead, they lost that one. And now this game drops them down to 3-3. They may by fully three games behind the Niners once this weekend is done.
Nobody said being the defending champions would be easy.
My pick: Accurate
