Cleveland Browns 27 Pittsburgh Steelers 24
This wound up being a pretty exciting game, coming right down to the wire.
However, it sure did not seem like that would be the case at one point in the first half, when the Browns scored three touchdowns in less than 11 minutes of play to take a seemingly commanding 21-7 lead. The Steelers did score a field goal late to close to within 21-10 by halftime.
By the second half, however, the Steelers recovered. Pittsburgh played well and started closing in, chipping away at Cleveland's lead. In fact, to their credit, the Steelers actually managed to tie the ball game up with a touchdown, and then a successful two-point conversion, very late in the game, with less than two minutes to go in the game.
Yet, the Browns responded. They took the ball and drove down the field, just getting in position for Cleveland placekicker Andre Szmyt to attempt a 56-yard field goal attempt for the win. The ball split the uprights, and the Browns got a way with a game that they almost let slip through their grasp. Certainly, they made a game that they once were in complete control of much more interesting than it perhaps should have been.
Close or not, the Browns do manage to win an important early season divisional showdown. It also marks their third straight win, as they now improve to 3-1 on the year, breaking the four way tie for first in the AFC North, as each team in the division sported identical 2-1 records. For now, the Browns are alone atop the division, while the Steelers, for now, are in the last place, falling to 2-2.
My pick: Accurate
