World Series Will Feature the Milwaukee Brewers Against the Tampa Bay Rays

Granted, I do not cover baseball all that much here on this blog. Yet it seemed like just a few days ago that I updated, and things were completely different. The Cleveland Guardians had won Game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead in the ALCS.

Well, that might as well be ancient history. The Tampa Bay Rays won out the rest of the series, winning the next three games to take the American League pennant, 4 games to 2.

The Tampa Bay Rays have reached the World Series twice before in franchise history. They won the American League pennant for the first time in franchise history in 2008, although they lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series. Tampa Bay also made it back to the World Series in 2020, but this time lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Now, the Rays have qualified for the World Series for the third time in franchise history, but for the first time in six years.

They will face the National League champions, the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers have only made it to the World Series once in their franchise history, way back in 1982. Ironically, they won the American League pennant back then, although they eventually lost to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Neither of these two franchises has ever won a World Series before. So history is guaranteed to be made this year, one way or the other.

Officially, the Brewers are considered fairly heavy favorites to win the World Series. After sweeping past the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that were defending champions and which had won the World Series two years in a row, and three times since 2026, that really is not a shocker. I also predict that they will win and, admittedly, also hope that they win.

Should be interesting. Let's see what happens.
