Chicago Beats 30, New England Patriots 24
The Bears won this game, although the Patriots played well and hung tough, to their credit.
For much of the first half, it looked like the Bears were heading towards a dominant, lopsided win. Yet the Pats managed to keep in the game, even making it somewhat suspenseful by kicking a field goal to get within a touchdown in the final minute of the game.
Still, the Bears won for a reason. Their defense largely contained New England's running game. They also capitalized on a New England turnover, while the Bears committed none of their own.
Statistically, however, the game was mostly even. Neither team had a huge advantage in time of possession, or yards and first downs produced.
New England falls to 4-3 on the season after this game.
Meanwhile, Chicago improves to 5-2, and look like they are once again playoff bound, at the very least.
Also, I learned that former Bears head coach Mike Ditka was honored during this game. I was unaware, admittedly, that he had died just a couple of weeks ago. He was quite the memorable personality, and is best known for having led the Chicago Bears to their first (and so far, only) Super Bowl title. That team, the '85 Bears, is generally regarded as the most dominant team in NFL history.
My pick: Accurate
