Staying on the theme of movies, I ran into this one yesterday, and thought it would be a good link to share for fans of that awesome movie, Fight Club.
That was released back in 1999. In my last blog entry, I mentioned how great a year 1994 was in movies. But 1999 was also right up there with it. I already mentioned Fight Club, but you also had the underrated American Beauty, which really is a great, meaningful, thought-provoking film, although it was not exactly what anyone would call a blockbuster, or anything. There was also The Matrix, which ranks as among the best movies of all time for many people, with some justification. An adaptation of Stephen King's The Green Mile was released in 1999, and unlike many of the film adaptations of his works, this one came out very nicely! I don't think it's far behind The Shawshank Redemption, as far as the best King movies! Arlington Road was another great movie that came out in 1999! The Sixth Sense also came out that year, and George Lucas returned to Star Wars with The Phantom Menace, although many fans were disappointed. The Hurricane and The Man on the Moon both came out that year, as well -both phenomenal movies! So did The Talented Mr. Ripley and The Cider House Rules.
In comedy, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me saw it's release, as well
Again, there are probably a few that I am missing. But the point is, it was a really, really good year in film.
Some of those movies were thought provoking, some were funny, some were exciting. Some had a bit of each of those elements within them, including The Matrix, as well as the cult favorite, Fight Club - which instantly became one of my favorites.
So, if you are a fellow fan, here is a list of some facts about Fight Club that you may, or may not, have known:
