NFL Week 5 Predictions

These predictions are coming in late. But better late than never, right?

So, let's get straight to it:

Chicago Bears at Carolina Panthers - A very intriguing match between two teams that are not where they want to be at this moment. The Bears were looking good up until a tough but convincing loss to the Packers at home last weekend, and now, they look for redemption as they travel south. The panthers were looking good a few weeks ago at 2-0, but two blowout losses in a row leave a lot of questions hanging in the air. I think the Bears will have too much offense, though, and I see Carolina struggling once again. Prediction: Bears

Pittsburgh Steelers at Jacksonville Jaguars - The Steelers did not look good at all last week, handing the lowly Tampa Bay Bucs their first win of the season in Pittsburgh. The Steelers play another lowly team this weekend at Jax, but I suspect that the Steelers are highly motivated, and the Jaguars just won't have enough to get past Pittsburgh. Besides, the Steelers won't lose two crushing upsets in a row, will they? Prediction: Steelers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints - Tampa has to feel good after getting their first win of the season in the Steel City. But now, they go to New Orleans, a team that themselves have been struggling quite a lot this season. This is a battle of the two last place teams in the NFC South, but the Saints should have no problems blowing away Tampa at home in New Orleans. Too much going for the Saints in this one, not least of all, trying to keep pace in a surprisingly weak NFC South, so far. Prediction: Saints

St. Louis Rams at Philadelphia Eagles - This could be a major upset, if the Rams win. They are a tougher team, I suspect, than most believe them to be. But the Eagles are coming off a disappointing loss, their first of the season, and they are returning home, to boot. Too much of an advantage for them, and the Rams woes this season continue. Prediction: Eagles

Cleveland Browns at Tennessee Titans - Yet another game between two teams that are not where they want to be at this point in the season. The Titans looked solid in a week one win, but have looked horrendous since, suffering three straight losses. The Browns, in the meantime, have lost some crushing disappointments, and have not exactly been awesome on the road. But I think that they'll have just enough to get by Tennessee today. Prediction: Browns

Atlanta Falcons at NY Giants - The Giants seem to be flying high lately, and the Falcons do not appear to be very solid on the road. I think the Giants offense continues to roll against the Falcons still suspect defense, and Atlanta's road woes continue this season Prediction: Giants

Houston Texans at Dallas Cowboys - Both of these Texas teams are sitting pretty so far at 3-1. The Cowboys were humiliated against San Fran in week one, but have looked pretty awesome, admittedly, since. And the Texans, last year's worst team in the league, are showing something more. Plus, this is a Texas showdown, so I think this might be the game of the week. Very tough game to call, but home field advantage should prove the difference. Prediction: Dallas

Baltimore Ravens at Indianapolis Colts - Andrew Luck last weekend became the first NFL quarterback in history to post consecutive games with 370 plus yards passing, and four touchdowns in each game. To say that he is red hot would be an understatement. He likely will not make it three weeks in a row, but the Colts, at home, are probably just a bit too much for the Ravens to handle today. Prediction: Colts

Buffalo Bills at Detroit Lions - The Lions are looking good, soaring high so far. And after an incredible start, the Bills are starting to look grounded. Unless the Bills can pull off another miracle road win, like they did at Chicago to open the season, I see the Lions kind of blowing this wide open early, and burying Buffalo with an avalanche of points. Prediction: Lions

Arizona Cardinals at Denver Broncos - This is another contender for the game of the week, as well. Undefeated Arizona travels to Denver, one of the toughest places to play. The Broncos are coming off a bye week, following a heartbreaking loss to Seattle in a Super Bowl rematch, while the Cardinals also are coming off a bye, and sitting pretty with an unexpected 3-0 mark. But Denver has the home field advantage, and much incentive to win, and I see them doing it. Prediction: Denver

NY Jets at San Diego Chargers - This seems to be pretty much where the Jets season really begins to unravel. They lost some tough games that, maybe, they should have won. But with this game at San Diego, and the next game against Denver, the Jets problems will not be easy to overcome. Just staying in this one will be a feat, and I don't see the Jets even being able to do that. Prediction: Chargers

Kansas City Chiefs at San Francisco 49ers - Another candidate for game of the week. At least if the Chiefs play the way that they have been playing in the last few weeks. The Niners started looking more familiar with a win last weekend, but how will they look today against Kansas City's tough defense and explosive offense? Home field should count for something. My heart tells me Kansas City has a chance, but my head tells me the other team will win. Prediction; 49ers

Cincinnati Bengals at New England Patriots - Are the Pats really as bad as they looked last week against the Chiefs? Well, at the very least, they have home field advantage in this one. But the Bengals are sporting an impressive, undefeated 3-0 record, and they have just looked solid so far on all fronts. The question then, again, is just how much this New England team seems to be in a state of disarray. New England is a tough place to play and win, but the Bengals are capable, possibly. Still, usually, Belichick finds a way, and I suspect he'll find a way again tonight. Prediction: Patriots

Seattle Seahawks at Washington - The Seahawks have the tough defense, are coming off a bye week after an inspiring win against Denver in the Super Bowl rematch, and should be well rested and relatively healthy. Washington, in the meantime, seems to really be struggling, and are on the verge of seeing their once promising season spiral out of control. Just not enough there for Washington to pull off the upset, as I see the Seahawks shutting them down, and obtaining a relatively easy road victory. Prediction: Seahawks

I was impressed by some of the apparently many records set during last week's NFL action; Take a look:
