After a lethargic game, the Vikings started moving the ball, started scoring some points. And the defense was playing tight, clamping down on the Packers. Suddenly, the purple and gold were looking pretty solid.
But the only problem was that this was the fourth quarter, and the Vikings had already spotted Green Bay a 42-0 lead by the time they seemed finally ready to get going.
Yes, the Packers had obliterated Minnesota through the first three quarters, making the Vikings look inept - even more inept than usual, anyway -en route to a blowout win.
Another blowout for Thursday Night Football. So much for CBS's experiment this year, right? Not sure why, but every Thursday Night Football game seems to be a blowout this season.
Aaron Rodgers looked very solid once again, completing 12 of 17 passes for 156 yards and 3 touchdowns, orchestrating a highly effective Green Bay offense that buried the Vikings underneath an avalanche of points. That included solid rushing by Eddie Lacy for the Packers, who ran for 105 yards on 13 carries, including two touchdowns.
The Vikings simply had no answers for the highly efficient Green Bay offense.
But the Vikings also were completely ineffective on offense, until the fourth quarter, well after the game had been decided. In truth, the game had been decided even well before halftime, by which time the Packers held a 28-0 lead.
Green Bay riased their record to 3-2, with two consecutive division wins, to boost them up, while Minnesota saw their record sink to 2-3.
