Baltimore Ravens Destroy the Dolphins in Shutout on Thursday Night

Miami Dolphins

vs.

Baltimore Ravens

Well, I was just a little bit off on my prediction that Miami would win the Thursday Night Football game. But at least I was close, as the Ravens just edged the Dolphins, 40-0.

Now, obviously, Miami did very little right in this game, especially offensively. Yet, the main thing that most people will likely remember from this game was the late hit (some might suggest dirty hit) by Miami linebacker Kiko Alonso late in the first half, which gave Joe Flacco a concussion, bloodied him around his ear, and from which Flacco appeared clearly dazed and confused. He was sent out of the game, and it is unknown when he will be able to return to the field of play, although his night was over after this hit.

Many of the Ravens were outraged that Alonso was not ejected from the game for the late hit. They wanted to make a statement - and boy, did they ever!

Nobody would argue that Miami generated any kind of positive headlines after this on. Their offense looked positively abysmal, failing to produce any points, and committing costly turnovers. The offensive line was simply atrocious.

Really, there were no positives to take away for Miami after this one. Back to the drawing board after a sobering loss that sees them fall behind the race for first place in the AFC East.

As for Baltimore, this was the kind of defensive display that their players expected, a historical level of dominance. It might not exactly get them right back into the division race in the AFC North, but if they can play anywhere near this level for their remaining games, this team can surely do some things and go places, like the playoffs!
