“I am proud to shut down the government. ... I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. I’m not going to blame you for it.”
- Donald Trump, December 11, 2018
The Democrats now own the shutdown!

“We are in a shutdown because Democrats refuse to fund border security.”

"At this point it has become their, and the Democrats, fault!"

The government shutdown is now into the 34th day, with no end in sight.
There is very little that can be seen as funny right now, although there was one story last week that received quite a bit of media coverage.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had a planned trip to Afghanistan aboard a military plane, but Trump cancelled the trip, citing the government shutdown.
Meanwhile, Trump's wife Melania went on a plane at taxpayer expense for a vacation in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
No hypocrisy there, right? Nothing to see here, folks. Just keep moving.
But the latest news, and FAUX News is in an uproar about it, is that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi cancelled Trump's State of the Union Address, by dis-inviting him.
What goes around, comes around. Trump wants to be a nasty, petty little prick all of the time, and now, he and his allies are whining and screaming foul when they get a taste of their own medicine. The melting snowflakes can dish it, but they sure cannot take it!
Through all of this circus act, many people continue to go without paychecks, as the lines for unemployment and food lines are growing. People's lives are being disrupted, while Trump continues to insist that his vanity wall is a higher purpose that, according to him, all good, hard-working, honest Americans are in favor of and realize that value of such a wall.
Sure.
Why this sudden sense of urgency for the wall now, when he did not strongly pursue it during his first two years in office, when he had the benefit of a Republican majority in both chambers of Congress? Some feel that this is a ploy, and I read about one theory that Trump is blocking food stamps and such in order to get a violent reaction out of those affected, so that he could then grab more power.
Frankly, I would not put it past him.
And still the government shutdown continues. Now, airports are beginning to feel the pinch, as NSA agents are not so willing to show up for another day of work while not getting paid. Imagine that!
All this winning that President Trump promised!
