Abbey Road Album Cover Picture Taken 50 Years Ago Today

Yes, it was 50 years ago on this day - half a century ago exactly - that the Fab Four went out to the literal Abbey Road to take a series of pictures.

One of them, of course, was used as the cover for the album which would bear the name of the road, and the studio, where the Beatles had recorded the album. Obviously, it was called Abbey Road, and has become one of the most famous and beloved of all of the Beatles albums. It was, in fact, the last Beatles album ever made, although another Beatles album, Let It Be, that had been made before would technically be released later on.

Still, Abbey Road was their last stand as a band, so to speak. It is a great album, one of the best ever. The name Abbey Road is now most likely most famous for this great Beatles album. And the picture that was used has become very iconic. Many people, and even some musical acts, have tried to replicate it with their own version of this famous cover.

So, it seemed appropriate to honor that on this, the 50th anniversary of that photo having been taken. Maybe give the album a listen, as well!

Is there ever even a bad time to listen to a great Beatles album?
