Yesterday during a press conference, the Washington NFL franchise made what was widely expected to happen official: they retired the "Redskins" name and logo for good.
For the time being, the new name of the franchise has not been revealed. It is widely speculated about what the new team name may very well be, although many people seem to favor "Redtails." This name would honor both a local bird, as well as as the "Redtails" black army unit during World War II.
We shall see what the official name, and the official new logo, will be when it is released.
The team is also trying to keep the old team colors of burgundy and gold.
