RIP, Johnie Cooks

Sad news from the sports world today. Johnie Cooks, a lienbacker who starred for Mississippi State and helped the New York Giants to ultimately Super Bowl XXV in the 1990-91 season, has died. He was just 64 years old.

No cause of death has been made public yet, although Mississippi State did release a statement:

“The Mississippi State family mourns the loss of all-time Bulldog great Johnie Cooks,” MSU said in a news release. “Cooks was an SEC football legend and among the greatest to ever represent the Maroon and White. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
