College Education Was Not Always So Prohibitively Expensive in the United States

The cost of attending college in the United States has just escalated dramatically in recent decades. I remember during my days at Bergen Community College, there was this one guy who was an activist in fighting against this trend of college costs growing more and more expensive, and becoming less and less affordable for more people.

At the time, I had no idea that this was not just some temporary thing, but indeed, was a trend that would continue unabated for decades to come.

Now, staggering levels of student loan debt has become a major issue and a polarizing talking point in this country.

However, I ran into this article which actually points out that it was not always quite like this. In fact, college was considerably more affordable, until President Ronald Reagan began to reverse that trend in the 1980's.

Things have grown consistently worse since then.

Take a look at this article, and see what you think. And as always, please feel free to share your thoughts here. I would be interested to hear what people think.
