A lot of Americans these days will identify themselves as "conservatives."
However, it is important to understand that what used to pass as "conservative" not all that long ago in American history bears really no resemblance to the lunacy that passes as conservatism these days.
In the video below, noted scholar and intellect Noam Chomsky makes the case that the last actual conservative American President was Dwight Eisenhower. Also, that some of Eisenhower's positions back in the 1950's would look positively radical in what passes as today's American political landscape.
We really need to examine ourselves as a country, and ask just what in the hell happened in the last sixty to seventy years to get us where we are now.
