Admittedly, I am not much of a baseball fan.
Yet, once this time of the year comes (the MLB playoffs, I mean), usually, it gets my attention. And like most sports fans, I do have rooting interests, even if I rarely ever watch the games.
One team that is still in it, at least for now, would be the Milwaukee Brewers. That is a rarity, and it is for this reason that I am pulling for them to win the whole thing. They are a small team from small market, and you rarely ever hear about them. Frankly, I am surprised that they do not have more supporters here in the greater New York metropolitan area this year, as everyone seems to want one of the bigger, most established franchises to win. The New York Yankees, obviously, were one of those teams, as are the Boston Red Sox. The Los Angeles Dodgers are obviously the main team for the second biggest city in America, and the Houston Astros, who entered this postseason as the defending World Series champions, are from the fourth largest city in the country.
Those teams are major players, and most people would agree that they have the money and influence and such to constantly obtain players necessary to make title runs.
But the Milwaukee Brewers? You almost never really hear about them. In fact, the only real Wisconsin team that you hear anything about in terms of championships would be the Green Bay Packers. So personally, yeah, I think it would be nice for a team like this to go ahead and win it all. Hell, I would even pull for them over the Red Sox, who have become my de facto favorite team, along with the Toronto Blue Jays who came nowhere near the playoffs this year.
Let's see something new. If we all supposedly like the underdogs, then why are so few supporting the Milwaukee Brewers as they try and make improbable history?
