Breaking News: Congress Opens Articles of Impeachment Against President Trump

Rarely do I ever do "breaking news" pieces on here, and for several reasons.

Firstly, I rarely am on here live, or have access 24/7, to make this a real possibility. Technically, I could likely use my cell phone, but it always looks sloppy when I have to rely strictly on my phone and publish things there, so it is something that, normally, I try to avoid.

Also, my schedule is a bit too busy to try and actively keep up with breaking news on a regular basis. We all have lives that we are trying to live, right? Mine is no exception.

All of that said, however, it seemed like a good time to make an exception.

Today, for the second time in Trump's first term, the House of Representatives will vote to consider impeaching this president. This time, it will be for his role in the insurrection, or whatever you want to call it (an attempted coup d'Γ©tat or the failed Capitol Building Putsch would be other ways that I would describe it), this past Wednesday.

Remember, Trump was on the phone with members of Congress, urging them to overturn the election results, while all of this was going on. There is video released by Donald Trump, Jr. himself, that shows the Trump family celebrating, enjoying themselves, during the rally Wednesday, although the television images - those that can be made out - appear to be from the rally earlier in the day, and not necessarily of the more violent episode of the storming of the Capitol building that we would see later. One way or another, however, Trump -and Rudy Giuliani, and Donald Trump, Jr. -  can certainly be seen as having institgated the riot, and thus, deserve to be held accountable. Trying to put pressure on lawmakers while the literal government center that they are in is being stormed by an unruly mob loyal to Trump can certainly be regarded as an attempt to intimidate lawmakers and undermine the democratic process. It really is not even a stretch of the imagination to view it that way.

Yes, I know there is little time, and frankly, Congress predictable stalled too long on this already. Trump is too dangerous to hold office another day, even another hour, frankly, regardless of his suspended social media accounts. And yes, we are all too aware of some fellow Republicans urging inaction, suggesting that this is a time to heal. It is very convenient that they always seem to turn to that argument only after they, or in this case their party leader, has been caught doing something absolutely reprehensible and unjustifiable. Never do they seem to use those arguments urging peace and calm when their party leader is ranting and raving and actively sowing the seeds of division, and advocating violence.

Frankly, if a violent and treasonous insurrection - an attempted coup d'Γ©tat, if you will - do not qualify as grounds for impeachment at the very least, then I just do not know what would qualify. Trump needs to go, he needs to be held legally accountable for his role, and he needs to be disqualified from ever holding public office again.

Let's see what happens with the impeachment proceedings.
