A Psychiatrist Explains the Destructive Mindset of Donald Trump

Now, I am not sure that this explains everything that is going on in our confusing world. Nor would I suggest that this even explains all of Trump's actions while he has been president.

That said, I think that Dr Russell Razzaque is on to something here. There are reasons why Trump seems adamant on lashing out and trying to bully everyone. Also, there are reasons why he seems almost to thrive and take some sick joy in the pain which he and his policies create.

Sure enough, Trump is a sick human being. More and more, I feel this to be true. Something is lacking in him, and it seems more than just a little empathy. In fact, my suspicion is that what he is lacking is humanity. When you look at his eyes, they often seem...well, like there's nothing there. Nothing behind them, nothing of substance. They seem like dead eyes to me.

Dr Razzaque explains that Trump is deathly afraid of being perceived as a loser. That is just something which he is terrified of, and it is a fear, even a paranoia, which harkens back all the way to his childhood. And it sure feels true that Trump wants, more than anything in the world, to be the center of attention, always and forever. It hardly even matters if he is viewed as good or bad, with hatred or with love, so long as he is the center of attention at all times.

All of that is actually understandable.

What I still do not get is why more Americans in particular do not get that this guy is really, really bad news. I mean, it was chaos and embarrassment and decadence all through his four years. Then he spent the next four years crying about how he was cheated, claiming he had proof while never actually producing all of this supposed proof. Also, he orchestrated an insurrection, an attempted coup, as far as I am concerned. And oh, by the way, he also suggested that some parts of the Constitution might need to be suspended.

You know, typical talk from a typical politician, right?

He promised to lower the price of groceries and gas once in power again, but then reneged on that rather quickly, even before he assumed office. Since taking back the White House, he has been absolutely fixated on annexing new territories for the United States, in making sure that everyone understands that when he said before that he was joking about running for a third term or being president for life, he wasn't really joking (as if we did not know that already) and, of course, on imposing tariffs all across the globe, to almost literally every nation in the entire world.

Right now, the economy is in turmoil. The world feels chaotic and in free fall, which is a Trump specialty, of course. In just about eight or nine weeks since Trump took over, the fairly strong economic numbers under Biden have tanked under Trump. Thousands of people have lost their jobs, and Elon Musk celebrated by mimicking using a chainsaw for entertainment purposes, surely with Trump's approval.

Yet with all of that, Trump's approval numbers have not similarly tanked. Oh, there's a lot of talk about how his numbers are in decline, and I guess that they are. But they are still generally in the mid-40's, when it seems obvious that by now, they should be much, much lower.

If I had any hair to pull out, it would be all gone by now. Yet sadly, Dr Razzaque predicts that there will be only more chaos and more unprovoked attacks by Trump on the rest of the world, as well as on Americans. We are now witnessing something which is difficult to view by any lens other than a serious and, frankly, obvious national decline.

Indeed, I believe that Dr Razzaque has some things right about why Trump is the way that he is. What it still does not explain, and what I sometimes feel I will never understand, is why Americans are collectively allowing all of this nonsense to happen.
