Astronaut Ron Garan saw something that changed his perspective on the planet Earth while he was up in space. He saw just how fragile everything was, how thin the layer of ozone that protects life on the planet was.
It altered his perspective, changed how he saw life and our position on this planet.
This is something which surely can change a person. I wish that more people would stop and listen to what people like Garan, who most certainly went through an experience that almost no one else, statistically speaking, has gone through. Certainly, seeing something like that would change anyone's perspective on life.
However, it is probably too easy to lose sight of the fragility of this planet, and of life in general, while we are grounded down here on Earth itself. Much like it is a little too easy to get too completely absorbed with details of our lives while we are living them, to the exclusion of many more important things all around us.
