European summers used to be known for moderation. Very hot, humid, sticky summers were a thing foreign to most Europeans.
That, however, sure seems to have changed in recent years and decades. Nowadays, the new normal seems to be these brutal heat waves that cause considerable damage, and obvious discomfort to locals.
Once again, we have another major heatwave in Europe, and it is causing problems. That includes wildfires, including one not far from Paris.
Below is a summary from a recent article by Marko Korosec, discussing the heat wave which moved from the Scandinavian countries and is now moving across much of the rest of the European continent:
Over the next 10 days, peak temperatures will return to the low 40s °C over France, the central Balkans, and Italy. Portugal and Spain should maintain the upper 30s to low 40s until at least the following weekend. The weather has been hot over the peninsula, leading to large wildfires in Portugal.
Significant heat will also gradually worsen drought conditions across Iberia and Southeast Europe, where recent devastating wildfires have been ongoing.
American President Trump has been aggressively trying to shut down all discussion of climate change/global warming.
However, it sure doesn't seem like Mother Nature is cooperating
In fact, it seems like all of this closely resembles exactly what scientists were predicting and warning us of all along. And it's not slowing down, even if Kind Con Don refuses to believe in it (at least officially).
