This was a copy of a newspaper poster "Remembering Woodstock" that helped to inspire this blog entry.
This was a rough weekend that just passed. Between the death of my friend and then unexpectedly working many extra hours than I was scheduled for, Monday was a day of recovery. Plus, I had stomach issues, and just still felt tired and mostly down the whole day.
So I really just was not up for writing all that much here in the blog. On Sunday, I posted one weekend humor piece, because I had prepared that in advance, even though I was not really feeling in a humorous mood. I posted the "On This Day" blog entry, and then wrote a long piece about my recently departed friend.
In the process, I forgot to publish some previously completed blog entries dedicated to Woodstock, although I probably should have done it.
One thing that I thought might help, in an attempt to make up for this a bit, was to take some pictures of republished newspaper articles from the New York Times, which documented the whole Woodstock thing. Seemed appropriate to share those here and now.
Someday, I will get around to taking pictures and publishing more newspaper articles of Woodstock and that era, as well.
For now, here are the reproductions published by the New York Times, dating back mostly to 1969, although there were some articles which covered other stories, including the deaths of Woodstock performers, from the following years. Hell, there were even some articles covering the 1994 and 1999 Woodstock shows, although I don't feel that either of those had anywhere near the same impact. In fact, I think that the 1999 show was unworthy of the name, truth be told.
That's just my opinion, however.
In any case, I digress. Below are some pictures of the reproduced newspaper articles from the New York Times covering the original Woodstock Music Festival back in August of 1969.
