Yesterday, my girlfriend and I had a mutual day off together.
The weather turned out to be perfect for it. Absolutely ideal. Usually, when you think of August in New Jersey, you think of hot days. Probably leaning on the humid, uncomfortable side. But the weather has been simply idyllic in recent days. Not too humid, and neither too hot nor too cool. Nights and early mornings are chilly, but not yet cold. When I step outside early in the morning, I love to take a deep breath when it's like that, because it is refreshing and reinvigorating. That's the kind of weather that we have had lately.
So we took advantage. We went to Lambertville, across the river from our usual stop in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Both towns are kind of artsy, if you will. There, we enjoyed a nice lunch in rather idyllic circumstances. There was a couple getting wedding pictures taken at some point in the background, serving as a pleasant point of curiosity for us.
After that, we went to nearby Yardley, Pennsylvania, and picked up a jacket for her, which serves as an early birthday gift (she accepted).
Just a very pleasant day overall. After the week that I have had, which was filled with stress and annoyances and learning of the tragedy of a close friend of mine dying, this day felt restorative. Figuratively like stepping out in the early morning and taking a cool, refreshing breath of fresh air. Felt like exactly what I needed.
Below are some pictures of our brief visit to Lambertville.
Enjoy!
