Pro-Trump Attorneys Aiming For An Executive Order Which Would Hand Trump Sweeping Power Over Upcoming Midterm Elections

Things are looking decidedly bad for Trump domestically. If we have free and fair elections, Trump is polling low enough that he would likely be regarded as a liability for his Republican party.

Frankly, this was all predictable. In fact, I did predict it before Trump took power, much as I predicted that he would win the 2024 election. Mostly, it was a sense of déjà vu, because all of this reminds me so much of George W. Bush and his winning a frankly undeserved second term back in 2004. Then, seeing his approval numbers predictably tank once Americans realized, without the combined fear and distraction of elections, that he just was not a very good president.

Now, here we are. It feels like an exaggerated version of those years are being repeated, more or less. Maybe repeated is not the word. But it brings to rhyme that expression by Mark Twain about how history does not repeat, but it rhymes.

I remember fears - not entirely unreasonable ones - about how George W. Bush seemed to be ushering an age when the president could almost be seen as a dictator-lite. Now, we have someone who has many people the world over feeling that the United States has largely abandoned it's democracy and has instead turned into a dictatorship.

And one thing that dictators do is try to control - and effectively eliminate - elections.

So when so many things that we are seeing are predictable, should we really be surprised that Trump is trying to control - if not outright cancel - the 2026 midterm elections?

Of course not.

Take a look at the links below, which reveal the Trump White House's strategy for trying to control and restrict this election, with the intent of controlling the outcome to be favorable to him and his MAGA Cult following, of course.

Pro-Trump attorneys push executive order that would give Trump sweeping power over elections: Sources - ABC News

A group of pro-Trump attorneys and supporters is circulating a draft of a presidential executive order that uses alleged Chinese interference in the 2020 election — of which there is no evidence — to justify a national emergency declaration that they claim would give President Trump sweeping power over voting, multiple sources told ABC News.

The 17-page draft order, which sources say Trump has reviewed, would mandate the use of voter ID and hand-counted ballots and ban mail-in ballots ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

The attorneys pushing the draft order said they anticipate it would be incorporated into a planned executive order, which they expect to be issued soon.

It is not clear if Trump is considering or will ultimately issue the order.  Read more: https://abcnews.visitlink.me/XGUXZ4
