It seemed strange to me that someone a candidate like Donald Trump, for the Republican party, would be the one who seemed to take pride in being a supposedly peacetime president.
He had criticized then sitting President Obama at a time when he was struggling a bit with poll numbers and predicted a "Wag the Dog" approach. Namely, Trump predicted that Obama would start a war somewhere in order to distract from the bad news here at home.
Fast-forward to 2026. Donald Trump is in his second term, albeit a nonconsecutive term. He has not reigned in inflation, and his promise of reducing grocery prices really went nowhere. His secret masked police force, ICE, has murdered people on the streets, and Americans apparently generally do not approve of that. Plus, it seems pretty damn obvious to everyone with an ounce of intelligence and objectivity at this point that Trump being mentioned tens of thousands of times on the Epstein Files, as well as caught in compromising photographs and videos showing him partying with Jeffrey Epstein all suggest that Trump is not innocent. Plus, there is that major magazine publication from way back in 2002 - nearly a quarter of a century ago, now - where Trump described Epstein in glowing terms but "joked" that while Epstein loved attractive women possibly more than Trump himself, he tended to like them on the younger side.
So yeah, it looks like he knew about Epstein's underaged girls. And it also looks like he got to know Epstein's underaged girls. And that, too, is not popular with the American people.
The result is that Trump is doing his own "Wag the Dog" distraction tactics with foreign wars. First came an invasion of Venezuela in January, and capturing Venezuelan President Moduro and bringing him into the United States. Then he threated Colombia after the president there expressed unhappiness with the invasion, and threatened that Cuba might also be ready to go. Trump also listed himself as President of Venezuela. Days later, Trump began ramping up the talk about Greenland, and it seemed that the United States military was set for an invasion there, but NATO leaders pooled together and forced Trump to back down.
Now in February, Trump launched an attack on Iran. In trademark Trump style, it has a flashy and over-the-top name: "Operation Epic Fury." Seems like we got ourselves involved in yet another Middle Eastern conflict. Because, you know, those Middle Eastern wars have historically always gone so incredibly well for us, right?
Guess Trump was serious when he suggested that since he did not win the Nobel Peace Prize, he was going to put peace aside.
Below is a reminder of this promise that Trump was to be the "peace president." Very shortly before Election Day 2024, this is what Stephen Miller posted on X:
Kevin Hayden 3h · Gnatzees talk a bad game and are bound to lose when the final bell rings. This just 4 days before election day.
