For once, some ridiculous things which Trump recently posted on his Truth Social page have actually generated controversy and backlash even from the right.
As you will recall, first he posted a warning on Easter Sunday that a great civilization would end tonight, and ended the post with "Praise be to Allah!"
Now, he generated controversy for a second consecutive Sunday. This time, the post clearly portrayed him in the position of a healer, and wearing clothes that made him seem like a Jesus-figure. That came after a post in which Trump attacked the Pope for not supporting his war with Iran and for not being MAGA enough for Trump's liking.
Okay, granted, I am not the most religious person in the world. But it seems to me clearly that this should be considered nothing short of blasphemous, frankly. Can you imagine if these posts had come from, say, Barack Obama? Or Bill Clinton? Or Joe Biden?
The MAGA far-right would be calling for blood, probably literally.
Yet somehow, when it's Trump, it's a whole lot quieter. Crickets.
Initially, I was almost expecting crickets from the right, actually. And then there came some serious criticism from rightwing sources, including Megyn Kelly, Alex Jones, Tucker Carlson, and Candace Owens. That was after the Easter Day post, when he threatened to annihilate an entire civilization overnight.
When this latest post, the one with him dressed up similarly to Jesus and seeming to heal a sick individual, became the source of still more controversy, Trump acted surprised. He claimed that he thought the post showed him as a doctor.
Because, you know, all doctors dress up like Jesus and have golden light pouring out from their healing hands, right?
Still one more lie, one more denial which landed in the domain of the absurd. We all know Trump is out of touch. I mean, from eating pizza with a fork and knife to dowsing a master chef's steak with ketchup to not being able to point out his favorite Bible verse or story to thinking that most people can cut Christmas expenses by buying 2 dolls instead of 37 to claiming affordability is a Democratic hoax, he has shown plenty of times that he is not really in touch with the grim realities of life that most of us have to endure. But claiming that he thought of himself in this image as a doctor, then doubling down and claiming the fake news media were attacking him with the apparently absurd suggestion that he seemed to be taking himself for Jesus (or perhaps God?) really stretches the boundaries of just how in touch with reality this guy actually is.
Thus inevitably, this became the latest example of Trump doing something stupid, and thus receiving much deserved ridicule as a result. I have added some pictures of posts recently seen on Facebook which gave me a good chuckle, underscoring just how absurd and misplaced his Jesus/doctor's robes were. Some of them point out the obvious BS of thinking that he looked like a doctor (by the way, he is not a doctor or a healer, and most certainly not a divine figure). Some others point out the broken promises of his administration, such as the fact that healthcare remains unaffordable (even though he promised to fix this) or the fact that he is a predator who belongs behind bars, rather than sitting in the Oval Office.
So it seemed worth sharing some of those here below. The sources can be found underneath the pictures. Most of them were quite funny, at least to me.
