🏈 NFL 2021-22 Week 9 Thursday Night Football Preview: Jets Try For Second Straight Win at Indianapolis 🏈

🏈🏈🏈🏈

New York Jets (2-5) at Indianapolis Colts (3-5)

The Colts just suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Titans, one that makes catching up and winning the division virtually impossible. They now are behind the Titans by fully three games and have lost both meetings, so they would outright have to finish with a better overall record. That means that they have to be four games better than the Titans from her eon out, and you just cannot count on that scenario playing itself out.

Meanwhile, the Jets were always projected to be one of the worst teams in the league this season. And let's face it: they are. Yet, they are 2-5, which is a whole lot better than many people expected when they started 0-3. But then they beat the Titans, and after a couple of losses, including another blowout loss up in Foxboro to Belichick and the Pats, the Jets just enjoyed a comeback victory, edging out the Bengals. That makes it two likely playoff contenders, if not outright payoff teams, that Gang Green has beaten now this season. So they can play well.

But going on the road to Indianapolis will be tough. The Colts do not have an impressive record, either. But they are truly one team that feels like they are much better than their record indicates. True, the Colts have suffered some losses this year. But generally speaking, they have lost tough, hard-fought games against truly quality teams. Twice to the Titans, once to the Rams, once to the Ravens, and also to the Seahawks (another team that I suspect is better than their record indicates.

So while the Jets sure feel like they are improving a bit in recent weeks, especially on offense, this game is probably going to be a bit too much for them to expect a win. Again, the Colts are better than that losing record would suggest, and should be able to show that in this one.

My pick: Indianapolis
