New Jersey Experiences Hottest Day in Over 5 Years & a Miserably Hot & Humid Weekend

This weekend saw the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, an event which certainly should be remembered.

However, there was really only one other piece of news that most people in New Jersey experienced this weekend that seemed to be the topic of discussion.

Yes, this weekend was a bust because of the weather, which is something that, frankly, New Jersey residents often complain about. But this weekend was not a bust because of snow or rain or anything like that. This weekend was a bust because it combined extremely hot temperatures (for this part of the country) mixed with extreme humidity, which simply made going outside feel heavy and tiring and completely uninviting.

I asked my girlfriend what we were going to do, and she replied simply that we were going to stay inside and keep cool.

Sounded good and reasonable to me. This was not the weekend to go out and be very physically active, obviously!

Earlier this week, I had dropped my son off in upstate New York, at his grandparent's house in Hornell, about a couple of hours southeast of Buffalo, give or take. And it was significantly cooler than New Jersey. By the time I drove back, you could just feel the heaviness in the air. It was hot and uncomfortable, and this was on Friday, before the temperatures were supposed to spike up a bit for Saturday, which was going to be the hottest day of the year so far.

Indeed, it was. It felt absolutely disgusting outside, the kind of weather when you feel gross and sweaty almost the instant you step outside.

Horrible.

Stay cool to everyone out there!
