MLS Cup Final Match-Up Set as Portland & New York FC Advance

Yesterday, New York City FC traveled a bit southwest on the interstate to Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania to face the Philadelphia Union in the MLS Cup Semifinal for the East. The two teams were playing for the right to advance to the MLS Cup Final next Sunday, which will be played in Portland, Oregon.

In a closely fought contest, but New York FC ultimately prevailed.

Alexanders Callens scored an Own Goal in the 63rd minute, which gave Philadelphia the lead, breaking what was to then a scoreless tie.

However, Maximiliano Moralez answered just two minutes later for New York FC, and the game was back to a tie.

Talles Magno then broke through in the 88th minute to give New York FC their first lead of the game, and it came very late. Too late, as it turns out, for Philly to do anything about it.

The Pigeons of New York FC will now advance to the MLS Cup Final for the first time in franchise history. They will travel out west to Portland, Oregon, to take on the hometown Timbers for the MLS Championship Trophy.
