Today is the Anniversary of the Jets Stunning Victory in Super Bowl III

This  is not a good time to be a fan of either New York NFL team.  Rarely are both teams quite as bad as they both appear to be at the moment. 

However, today is the anniversary of the Jets stunning the sports world and beating the mighty Baltimore Colts, who were prohibitive favorites. 

I was personally reminded of this earlier today, when I stumbled on a Facebook post by star quarterback Joe Namath. He talked a bit about the Super Bowl, and specifically about his teammate and friend Don Maynard, who just died two days ago. 

Nice to remember the good times when things look as bleak as they do now for the two New York area NFL franchises.

  1. Any decade now, Gang Green will return to and win the Super Bowl, proving that their triumph 53 years ago was no fluke. Even if there are times when you almost have to wonder if luring the surviving members of that 1968-1969 squad out of retirement might yield better results than the current lineup is producing...

    1. Neither local team looks good at the moment. But yeah, it's been a particularly long time since the Jets were champions.
