⚽️ ⚽️ Paris Saint-Germain ⚽️ ⚽️
PSG defeated Vannes 4-0 last week to open up the new year on a winning note. Not surprisingly, Mbappé had himself a huge game. He got the hat trick, scoring three goals in the 59th, 71st, and 76th minutes. Presnel Kimpembe also scored in the 28th minute, as PSG cruised to an easy win in the Round of 32 of the French Cup.
Then yesterday, PSG returned to Ligue 1 action, taking on Lyon. It resulted in a 1-1 draw.
Lyon struck first, as Brazilian Lucas Paquetá broke through with a goal in the 7th minute to put them ahead of the Parisians.
It stayed that way for quite a while. For the majority of the rest of the match, in fact. However, German Thilo Kehrer finally broke through for PSG in the 76th minute, tying the game.
With the draw against Lyon, PSG remains comfortably in first place in the Ligue 1 standings with 47 pts accumulated after 20 matches played. As of the time of my writing this (the afternoon of Monday, January 10th) Nice is in second place with 36 points after 20 matches played, followed by Olympique Marseille also with 36 points accumulated in 19 matches played. Then, Rennes is in fourth place with 31 points after 20 matches, and finally in fifth place, Montpelier has 31 points after 19 matches played.
