As yet another sign that the Beatles truly are something special, and that there is a certain quality about the band and their music that continues to endure even more than half a century after the band officially broke up, two of the most iconic albums from the Fab Four have recently spiked significantly on the charts. Indeed, the so-called "Red" and "Blue" albums, which together compile the greatest hits of their early era (red) and their later era (blue) have been steadily rising on the charts as of late, thanks to a newly released version of the albums in recent weeks.
It seems amazing to me that the Beatles still make these kinds of headlines more than half a century after the band broke up. Clearly, they stuck with people. Their music resonates in a way that the music of other bands generally does not, with the possible exception of Led Zeppelin, and maybe also Pink Floyd. Yet even then, I do not believe that they have quite the universal appeal that the Fab Four do.
Anyway, below is the link to the article, which feels both like a statement on the enduring nature of their music, as well as another kind of a statement about the frankly mediocre music of today.
