Details Are Emerging About the California Gunman Responsible for the Recent Mass Shooting

In the wake of the most recent mass shooting in the United States, the second one in a span of less than two weeks, many Americans are again wondering why this keeps happening here, and not really anywhere else. Certainly, the United State stands alone as the only industrialized nation where these kinds of incidents just keep happening with such regularity.

President Trump and other mostly Republican Washington politicians seem to think that more guns is the solution, and Trump seems almost to blame the victims by suggesting that a good guy with a gun would have taken care of the situation in Pittsburgh last month, and at the Thousand Oaks bar just a couple of nights ago. But the thing is, armed officers arrived and responded, and were killed in each case, which would seem to contradict Trump's statement.

Despite a vast majority of Americans believing that common sense gun legislation would help limit gun violence, and these mass shootings, nothing ever seems to get done. Hell, Congress does not ever even seem to study this problem, or these shootings. All they ever seem to do is offer thoughts and prayers.

Ian David Long, the gunman in this most recent mass shooting, even seemed to mock this inability to react to these tragedies before going on his rampage:

"I hope people call me insane... (laughing emojis).. wouldn't that just be a big ball of irony? Yeah.. I'm insane, but the only thing you people do after these shootings is 'hopes and prayers'.. or 'keep you in my thoughts'... every time... and wonder why these keep happening..."

We are learning more about this latest gunman. He was former combat marine, who had gotten divorced and lived with his mother. Apparently, they were not peacefully coexisting, as the two could be heard shouting and fighting regularly, according to neighbors.

Here are two links to this tragic story, including one from CNN where I got this particular quote used above from:
