Joni Mitchell is one of the greatest, most influential musicians of our time. Today, she turned 75 years old. That's right, she has been around for three quarters of a century. Mitchell was born on this date in 1943, in Fort Macleod, Alberta, Canada.
She obviously went on to be a great musician and poet
Mitchell was at the peak of her prominence and influence back in the 1960's, as one of the pioneers of the new musical scene, and the new overall consciousness that emerged during those turbulent times. She was not at Woodstock, although a lot of people seem to think that she was, although on some levels, it could be argued that she was there in spirit. Crosby, Still, Nash, and Young performed her famous song, "Woodstock," while performing at that most famous of concerts.
Over the years, Mitchell was nominated for 16 Grammy Awards and won eight o them! She was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 1997.
