NFL 2018-19 Week 11 TNF Review: Steelers Embarrass Panthers in 52-21 Rout

Carolina Panthers 21

v.

Pittsburgh Steelers  52

Pittsburgh 52, Carolina 21 - This one got out of hand early on. It was a very high scoring game, and the two teams at one point combined for an NFL record three touchdowns in 23 seconds, which had never before been done in the Super Bowl era. Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had a banner day, completing 22 of 25 passes for 328 yards and a whopping five touchdown passes. Cam Newton did not have an awful day for the Panthers, completing 23 of 29 passes for 193 yards with two touchdowns and one INT. However, it clearly was nowhere near enough for them to hope to keep up with the Steelers on this day. Pittsburgh had scored 45 points by the end of the third quarter, before this game began to resemble a preseason game, with the starters essentially taking a seat for rest and to guard against injury. Carolina's defense was torched and humiliated on this day, and it makes you wonder just how much of a contender they really are. Yes, Pittsburgh is a tough place to play, but you would figure a serious contender would provide more of a fight. The Steelers keep rolling, and they seem on the verge of at least de facto wrapping the AFC North division title up soon, even if the Bengals are technically not far behind...yet. As for the Carolina Panthers, this was a bad loss, and slips them farther down against the Saints, who likely will beat the aforementioned Bengals this weekend. Even if they do not, I guarantee you that they will not allow 50 + points, like the Panthers did on this night. Yikes!   My pick: Accurate
