The Mediterranean has long been such a prominent part of France. It always seemed like one of the most important regions both in terms of history and commerce.
Yet, I had admittedly never laid eyes on it prior to this particular trip. Or if I had, it had come when I was simply too young to remember it,or to understand what I was actually seeing at the time.
Finally, I caught my first actual glimpse of the Mediterranean while visiting Gaudi's house at Guell Park in Barcelona. We had gotten several views of it since.
Yet, we also both wanted to actually go to a beach and experience the Mediterranean on a close and personal level.
So that is what we did. We went to a beach and took in the sun. Well, to be sure, we both wore protective hats, since neither of us are particularly good in the sun. While I used to get tan when younger, it seems that I am either pale as Casper the Ghost or red as a lobster these days.
We both walked a bit into the waters of the Mediterranean. I even walked to a miniature, seemingly man-made island not far from the main shore.
Below are some pictures from our visit to a bona fide Mediterranean beach on a hot and sunny afternoon just a couple of days ago as I write this on the morning of Wednesday, September 17th.
Enjoy.
