Yes, I actually visited Carcassonne twice in one day.
First, the early morning visit, which I already posted a blog about.
But obviously my brother wanted to see it. In fact, I believe that it topped his list of places which he wanted to see during this trip.
So yes, I was privileged enough to pay two separate visits to this historic and stunningly beautiful medieval city, which I believe is the second largest walled city in Europe, after Dubrovnik in Croatia. That is really saying something.
This time, the visit came in the afternoon, although we hung around Carcassonne long enough to see it illuminated at night. That also is something to see.
Below are some more pictures of beautiful Carcassonne. In some, the towers are bathed in the soft afternoon sunlight. In others, taken from the Pont Neuf in centre villle, it is beautifully lit up during the night.
