Mark Hamill Turns 74 Years Old Today

Yes indeed.

While I usually don't make a point of noting celebrity birthdays, I am making an exception today.

Mark Hamill, whom I first knew as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars Universe during the days of the original trilogy, has turned 74 years old today.

Besides being a childhood hero as Luke Skywalker, Hamill has played other notable roles. He was the voice of the cartoon Joker, the main nemesis for Batman. He also voiced the Hobgoblin, Spiderman's major nemesis for a while (after the Green Goblin). He also was the voice of the horror character Chucky.

More recently, I saw him playing a villainous role in "The Long Walk," which I will be reviewing very soon.

Still, I mostly think of him as Luke Skywalker.

If anything, my respect for him has grown considerably over the course of recent years for his outspoken stance against Trumpism and the MAGA cult. To me, that almost transcends whatever heroic role he symbolized to me during my childhood.

Happy 74th Birthday, Mark Hamill!
