Here are a couple of articles about how some Trump supporters are finally seeing how disastrously things are going. Now, they have buyer's remorse.
I could have told them that would happen on Election Day, when many of them were celebrating Trump's victory. They ignored all of the many warnings - backed up with ample evidence - and instead chose to buy into the myth surrounding Trump, which of course he himself fostered. As a result, Trump supporters imposed this highly unqualified, highly unstable, and highly unhealthy (in every sense of that word) man into the Oval Office.
Now, he's a major problem and a pain in the ass for all of us, Americans and even the rest of the world, for that matter.
What good is paying attention to how bad this guy is now, when he still has something like 2 1/2 years left in his term? Clearly, the referred time to actually scrutinize who this man actually is and what he would do to the country - notice that I did not word it for the country - was prior to him being elected into office to begin with. Frankly, I am of the belief that he never should have been trusted within a thousand miles of the Oval Office. But knowing that he won a term in office as a result of the 2016 election, at the very least people should have paid attention and proceeded with extreme caution once the entire nation knew what he was all about.
If people were naive enough to believe him in 2016, then the four years of his presidency should have woken them up. Having a hard time criticizing outright Nazis, dismantling the White House pandemic team, and a ton of broken promises. Unless, of course, you just conveniently forgot about some of those promises, such as building the wall and making Mexico pay for it, or building a national healthcare system that would be affordable and would cover everyone, or paying off the national debt in eight years (in fact, he increased the national debt by over 25% in just his first four years in office, and now has added still many trillions more during this second term in office. Nor was he the greatest jobs creating president in history, as he promised to be. Oh, and he lied about the rest of the world laughing at us before he got into power, but they sure were laughing at us once he got into power, even once laughing in his face during a major speech at the United Nations.
Okay, so maybe all of that somehow slipped their radar? Maybe they got used to people scoffing at criticism of Trump, and assumed it was overdone?
Well, what about January 6th? This guy lost an election, had over 60 court cases to try to prove his case of "massive voter fraud" but then bent over backwards not to argue "massive voter fraud" in every single one of those court cases, despite claiming to have "irrefutable proof" of this "massive voter fraud. That sounds like a scam to me, and remember, this guy is the master of all scam artists. But on January 6th, far from promoting the peaceful transfer of power for the good of democracy and national stability, this guy led an insurrection to try and illegally stay in power, with violent Trump supporters breaking into the Capitol building.
That did not disqualify him in their opinions?
Apparently, Trump even suggesting that parts of the Constitution in a Truth Social post in 2022 was not enough to wake people up.
No, the threat apparently was still exaggerated, according to them.
Then, he did not exactly back away from claims that he would be a dictator, suggesting that he would indeed be a dictator on "day one."
Nope, still not enough to dissuade people.
But now, this man is in power, and has indeed become a sort of dictator. He has more power than any other recent president, and is forever trying to grab still more power and more power. There is blatant corruption, which had already existed to astonishing levels during his first term. But for this second term, it is truly off the charts with how blatant and obvious it all is. He is hardly even making an effort to conceal any of it.
Yes, now that he is in power, and it is almost impossible to get him the hell out of the White House, now they finally wake up and are beginning to express buyer's remorse?
Seriously, wake the fuck up. Pay attention!
Once again, so many broken promises. Many of these promises were like those he made the first time he got elected. In short, way too good to be true. No getting Mexico to pay for a wall which he never built in the first place, no wonderful healthcare system, and the national debt grew worse, not better. And this time around, the promises are more numerous and even more staggeringly unfulfilled.
No, he did not lower the price of gas or groceries as promised.
No, he did not keep us out of foreign wars.
No, he did not end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. Or at all, in fact.
No, he did not release the Epstein Files. In fact, the extent to which he is fighting their release has cast an obvious cloud of suspicion about his own role regarding being in the Epstein Files. You really have to be pretty damn stupid to believe him when he says that the Epstein Files are a "Democratic hoax," when they came out during his first term, and when the Democrats held power during the 2024 election but somehow did not implement this "Democratic hoax" against Trump to keep him from the White House to begin with. Frankly, it takes a special kind of stupid to believe that one.
Oh, and the tariffs did not work too well. Especially with him continually playing a game of chicken, of strutting boldly forward and promising harsh tariffs, then walking back and delaying them, which he did with both Canada and China. Repeatedly.
Now this Iran deal to end the unpopular war with Iran looks like a disaster. President Obama had a deal in place with Iran that seemed to work. No nukes for Iran, the Straight of Hormuz was open, and sanctions were in place. We did not give them tons of money. Trump tore that up, specifically because it had Obama's name attached to it, and got a worse deal for the United States, and indeed for the world. No guarantees of no nuclear weapons for Iran. The Straight of Hormuz might be open, but Iran clearly has demonstrated that it can close it pretty much anytime it desires. Some sanctions were lifted. And Iran is getting a lot of money for the rebuilding effort.
That's the art of the deal by Trump?
What a sham! But what do you expect from the apparently most accomplished scam artist in history?
Plus, we have never been so damn unpopular globally in our history. The United States is often perceived as a rogue of villainous nation. Americans now are viewed with skepticism. This is so true that many Americans now try to pose as Canadians when they travel abroad, because Canadians are nowhere near as unpopular as Americans.
Is this all of the winning that Trump promised us?
All of that sure seems like clear signs of a national decline. A decline in our status around the world, a decline in our national standing, and especially a decline in the quality of our leadership. Only the most loyal and, frankly, brainwashed lunatic fringe part of the Trump base still is convinced otherwise. All of this looks like failure.
And we have not even gotten to Trump's cognitive decline. To illustrate the specifics of this decline - which is also obvious to anyone outside of the Mindless MAGA Moron cult, here is a snippet from a recent article by Alexander Willis of MSN (see link below):
Trump has faced growing scrutiny over what some critics argue are signs of his cognitive decline, including apparent spells of dozing off during cabinet meetings, increased instances of rambling during speeches and an unexplained MRI scan. The issue, argued Larry Jacobs, who heads the University of Minnesota’s Center for the Study of Politics and Governance, was that Trump's “limited toolkit” compared with other presidents made his alleged cognitive decline exponentially more “dangerous.”
Now, I always viewed Trump as unpredictable and, thus, dangerous. Frankly, he always seemed unhinged to me. Truth be told, I never felt that you have to be especially insightful about him, or to have piercing intellect, to see the signs that this guy is not playing with a full deck and is and has always been far too self-obsessed and narcissistic to be trusted with any kind of power, let alone the power to look after the public good. All it takes is to open your eyes to who this man really is and always has been. Trump can be accused of a lot of things, but one thing that nobody can accuse him of is keeping all of this a secret. He loudly and proudly announced exactly who he was from the beginning. You just had to pay attention.
Apparently, thought, that's a problem for tens of millions of Americans.
So now, after more than a decade of this worse than worthless piece of shit dominating our politics and, increasingly, even dominating our lives, some former Trump supporters are finally opening their eyes. Yes, they are waking up to the reality that maybe, just maybe this guy doesn't have all of the answers. That in fact, far from being the answer or being the only one capable of saving the country, as he claimed, he is instead clearly and undeniably (at least if you have any common sense and objectivity) making the country worse.
Maybe next time, start thinking about these things ahead of time, so we don't all have to suffer for your apparent lack of common sense and reason? Perhaps the next time the next demagogue promises the world to you, making promises that sound simply too good or incredible to be true, you might actually react with even a tiny measure of skepticism and not elect such a clown into our highest office?
Perhaps it's time to grow up and at least pretend to be adults, and not elect a spoiled rotten and overgrown man-child to be our elected face and voice for so many years. To take elections seriously, realizing now that there are actual consequences for electing someone who is only interested and capable of destroying things, not building or rebuilding anything, especially not a nation.
Pretty please, with sugar on top?
