Spurs Make a Series Of It By Winning Game 3 At MSG

2026 NBA Finals Update

San Antonio Spurs 115, NY Knicks 111

Game 3 of the NBA Finals felt like a wakeup call for the home team.

After seemingly dominating the first two games of the series to take a commanding two games to none lead in the series, it almost felt like a coronation was inevitable. New York Knicks fans seemed to feel that it was just a formality, that the Knicks would take Game 3, then would end the whole thing officially in Game 4.

Many of those fans were saying that there was no way that this series would be going back to San Antonio.

But the thing is, the Spurs are here for a reason. They are a very, very good team.

With their backs against the wall, the Spurs came out swinging. The Knicks took a decent lead at some point, but this time it was the Spurs who mounted a comeback.

This time, it was the Spurs who hit the absolutely necessary baskets.

Some were saying that it was unfair. That the Spurs received a lot of foul call and were on the foul line a lot in the second half.

Indeed, there may even have been something to that.

Yet in the end, the Spurs did find a way to get it done. And it was not all because the Knicks got cheated, or anything like that.

Frankly, the Spurs defense was swarming and made life very difficult for the Knicks. They hit their shots when needed.

In short, they just played better. It felt like the Knicks were flat and not hitting all cylinders throughout the part of the game which I watched, which was most of the second half.

Now, we have a series. A real series.

Suddenly, it feels like Game 4 is a must win for New York. Because going back to San Antonio with the series tied was an unthinkable prospects just a day or so ago. Now, it is a very real possibility, and the Knicks are going to have to play a whole lot better than they did in Game 4.

Let's see what happens.
